The BMW X6 M Competition and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S are two gripping SUVs whose job is simple yet difficult to achieve: enchant the driver. The two automakers share the same objective, but each goes about the execution in its own way. Which one does it best?

The Best EVs To Buy in 2020 Under $50,000

By Kim Reynolds – MotorTrend

After many years on the periphery of the automotive mainstream, the time has finally come for electric cars. One by one, the old limitations of modest range, golf-cart-like performance, high prices, and slow charging have been conquered. Now, some of the best EVs can travel farther on a charge than gas cars, their acceleration is frequently quicker, they’re dropping in price, and if at-home, overnight charging isn’t enough, fast-charging stations are dramatically shortening your pauses to recharge on the road.

But not all EVs are solving these problems simultaneously—for example, there are many instances where an EV might be quick but has poor range, or affordable but uses an uncommon plug type. There are also the big differences in the charging speeds and costs of the competing fast-charging infrastructures, and the practical prerequisite of needing a garage or at least a driveway to locate a private overnight charger.

Best Sedans to Buy in 2020

By Alexander Stoklosa – MotorTrend

Traditional four-door sedans aren’t dead yet. Despite sales encroachment from ever-more-popular trucks and SUVs, sedans remain big sellers and typically drive better than any similarly sized crossover or SUV while delivering much better efficiency.

At the affordable end of the market, subcompact and compact sedans such as the Kia Rio, Hyundai Accent, Honda Civic, and Mazda 3 represent popular and more affordable family-car alternatives to SUVs (not to mention large cars!).

Move up in size and price, and passenger cars such as the Tesla Model 3 EV, Audi A6, and Audi A8 deliver cachet and performance to match their roomier interiors and trunks. There’s a four-door for every buyer, and we’ve reviewed them all, so read on for MotorTrend‘s picks for the best sedans to buy in 2020.

By – Frank Markus; MotorTrend

Which is the better entry-luxury sedan?

Everybody in the auto industry got sent home before Cadillac got its press-fleet allotment of base 2.0-liter CT4s and Mercedes-Benz populated its fleets with A 35 AMG sedans. As such, it’s not possible to pair those natural competitors with properly aligned powertrains (a front-drive $33,795 A 220 vs. a rear-drive $33,990 CT4, or a $45,945 A 35 4Matic vs. a $45,990 CT4-V AWD).

But with some creative squinting at the Monroney labels, we were able to fashion a comparison between a well-equipped CT4-V AWD ($52,010 as tested) and a loaded A 220 4Matic ($45,790). Stripping these vehicles down to their essences, which makes the better entry-luxury sedan? How do the Cadillac CT4 and Mercedes A 220 compare on size?

Toyota RAV4 vs. RAV4 Hybrid: Which Should You Buy?

By Kelly Lin – Words – MotorTrend

The only way to really get to know a car is to compare it to something else. So for a week, I swapped my RAV4 for a RAV4 Hybrid in an experiment that proved rather revealing. If I had to sum it up, the RAV4 Hybrid felt like the overachieving sibling that doesn’t get its fair share of attention. That said, both models have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages. Let’s see how the SUVs stack up in this Toyota RAV4 vs. RAV4 Hybrid comparison.
