2020 Nissan Titan First Test

By Christian Seabaugh – Words, William Walker – Photos – MotorTrend

Nissan hopes simplicity is the key to improve the Titan truck. In the automotive world, there’s perhaps no buyer more fiercely loyal than pickup truck buyers. Ford F-150 buyers buy F-150s, Ram 1500 buyers buy Rams, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 buyers buy, you guessed it, Silverados. It’s been hard for the Nissan Titan (not to mention the rival Toyota Tundra) to snake in on the Americans’ turf. With its latest updates to its half-ton Titan truck, Nissan hopes it finally has the pickup formula right. We snagged the keys to a 2020 Nissan Titan Pro4X to see if the revised Titan has what it takes to take on the F-150s, Silverados, and Rams of the world.

Audi RS6-R Avant By ABT Is The Meanest Super Wagon Of Them All

By Adrian PadeanuMotor1

It was only last week when the German tuners at ABT unleashed an angry Audi RS7 Sportback and now they’re turning their attention towards its wagon counterpart. The new RS6-R was teased back in early December 2019 and it’s finally ready to show off its aggressive stance thanks to a new body kit with several add-ons made from carbon fiber to keep weight in check.

As if the standard RS6 Avant wasn’t already a menacing beast among wagons, ABT has slapped on a spoiler lip at the front and a redesigned diffuser at the back, along with fender inserts and side skirt attachments. There are no fewer than 10 new exterior parts for the Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate competitor, plus the tuner’s own 22-inch alloy wheels to round off the look. Optionally, those oddly intriguing aero wheels are available.

2020 Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic First Drive

By Angus MacKenzieMotorTrend

Range Rover Velar – Sleek and fast, it’s the GT of SUVs.

Here’s the thing about most high-performance SUVs: They’re fast in a straight line, and some are even fun to drive. But despite the mega horsepower, the menacing exhaust rumble, the fat tires, and the pumped fenders, they still look like they’d be more at home attacking the school run than the Stelvio Pass. Even the ones with sporty rooflines, like BMW’s X6 M, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe, and Porsche’s Cayenne Turbo Coupe.

The only SUV that looks ready to ravage a driver’s road is Lamborghini’s Urus, all muscle and menace, the quickest SUV we’ve ever tested.

And then there’s the 2020 Range Rover Velar SV Autobiography Dynamic. That name might clunk like concrete blocks in a cement mixer, but if the Urus looks the proper supercar of SUVs, this rakish, thrusting, top-of-the-range Velar looks the proper GT.

2020 Hyundai Venue vs 2020 Kia Soul: So Close, but Oh So Far

By Nick Yekikian – Words, Brandon Lim – Photos, MotorTrend

Let’s get one thing clear: Kia Motors is owned by the Hyundai Group. Although their product lines follow different formulas, much of what the two brands sell happens to be closely related. For example, the Kia Stinger and the Genesis G70 are based on the same platform but are tuned very differently. The subjects of this comparison, the similar-sized Kia Soul and Hyundai Venue, are also based on the same platform, but you’d never know it based on the way they drive.

Underneath, the Kia Soul and Hyundai Venue are both the same car. You might recall that the Soul was a MotorTrend Car of the Year finalist last year because it was good—very good—and think that’s great news for the Venue, too. But what two automakers do with a shared platform can yield very different results—especially if the use cases are different.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class: TopGear Review

Rivals are closer than ever, but the S-Class remains our favourite luxo-barge. For now

Without a doubt the benchmark big luxury saloon, the one Audi, BMW, Lexus, Cadillac and even Jaguar and Maserati must define themselves by and be measured against.

This car defines the sector and is the one all others must topple. The latest A8 and 7 Series are both much newer than the S and thus have some exceptionally clever tech on-board, but while both are excellent cars in their own right, neither is quite as special as the big Merc.

Tesla’s Next Autopilot Feature? Traffic Light Recognition and Response (Sort Of)

By Alan Lau – MotorTrend

If you go to Tesla’s website to order a car today, you’ll find that a new upcoming feature for the brand’s Full Self-Driving Capability (a $7000 add-on promising autonomous capability in the future, but not now). Is it full self-driving? No. But the new addition, dubbed “Recognize and respond to traffic lights and stop signs” is a step toward FSD’s promised autonomous capabilities, even if it’s not yet been officially rolled out.

What does the still-beta-phase feature do? Just what you’d expect, given its name: It allows Teslas to “see” traffic signals and and stop signs—essentially, detect intersections—and respond accordingly. This was put on display on Out of Spec Motoring’s YouTube channel, which shared a video of a Tesla Model 3 automatically stopping for a red light with Autopilot engaged and also claiming it halted at stop sign. Arresting, for sure, but Tesla hadn’t—and still hasn’t—announced anything about this new FSD component rolling out to the fleet, which indicates it must only be available to a small group of Tesla users under a pilot program.

2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe: An Interior Befitting AMG?

By Alisa PriddleMotorTrend

When you aren’t getting your head pinned against the seat, check out the ambiance.

If you pay almost $100,000 for a 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe, you’ll undoubtedly have certain expectations. Many of them are related to power. After all, this Mercedes compact “coupe” has a handmade AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine. It leaps forward at the slightest touch of the pedal, unleashing 503 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, channeled through an AMG-tuned nine-speed automatic transmission.

Driving the AMG, your neck snaps back when you accelerate, whether you want it to or not. This is far more fun on an open stretch of road, but not so much in stop-and-go traffic, which is made worse by an abrupt stop-start system. With such a powerful engine, the whole car shudders when its eight cylinders fall silent.

So does the interior of this so-called coupe—even though it has four doors—live up to its performance? We spent a few days in a loaded-up $96,425 (base price is $85,095) GLC 63 S to find out.

2020 BMW M8 Competition Coupe First Test: Behind the Wheel of BMW’s Biggest M Car

By Scott Evans – Words, Brandon Lim – Photos – MotorTrend

617-hp GT is ready for the drift competition.

Formula Drift didn’t exist when BMW launched its M division, turning its sport coupes into competition-ready, street-legal race cars. But times have changed, and it’s nice to see the company expanding its motorsports interests with the 2020 BMW M8 Competition Coupe.

At least, I think that’s what’s going on here. BMW already races the M8 in sports car classes around the world, spawning the delightfully silly “Big M8 Meme” in which video editors make the already large race car three to 10 times the size of the other racers. Now, with the roadgoing version finally available (the race car’s been competing for almost three years), our instrumented testing reveals an apparent push into professional drift competition, as well.

20 Best Car Video Games Of All Time

By Motor1.Com Team

From Forza to Super Mario Kart, these are the driving-based games we love.

With car enthusiasts spending less time on the road these days, there is still one way to get your fix: car video games. One of the greatest inventions of the 20th century, the video game console, is there to keep our foot on the gas pedal, metaphorically speaking – even in these trying times. But one question lingers: what is the best car-based video game of all time?

With new installments of ForzaGran TurismoDirt and others continuing to saturate the market, we thought it only necessary to weed through nearly four decades of digital driving and put together a list of what we believe to be the 20 best car-based video games of all time. Some games from as early as 1982, to others as recently as present day. It’s safe to say not everyone will agree with our choices …
