2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS First Drive

You’ve seen the new Mercedes-Benz EQS’ available dashboard-spanning Hyperscreen and probably commented on how the exterior looks like a jelly bean. Most likely, you wondered whether this electric luxury sedan is a Tesla wannabe with a three-pointed star on the nose. Nope. It’s not.

During two days of relatively low-speed cruising through Switzerland, surrounded by the small country’s expansive network of speed cameras and police itching to levy steep fines for even minor infractions, we never saw much more than 75 mph. Certainly, we never engaged in anything that could be described as being “ludicrous,” and we never saw Plaid. In fact, we didn’t think much about Tesla or face-melting acceleration at all.

2021 Mercedes-AMG GLS63 First Test

The Mercedes-AMG GLS63 is the kind of vehicle nobody asked for, but Mercedes built it anyway because it can. The rationale for this thinking: Who needs another three-row luxury SUV from Mercedes when we already have the GLS450 and GLS580? Maybe the cool moms and dads who want sports car performance in a Clifford the Big Red Dog-size SUV. Or the millennial investor who is trying to impress his entourage by showing them what a nearly 3-ton sport utility can do on back roads.

In any case, we put a 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLS63 through our battery of track testing, drove it on the intense streets of Los Angeles, and had some fun with it on scenic roads in Santa Clarita and Pasadena for a complete evaluation. We wanted to know if the sleeper of luxury SUVs merits a $153,125 price tag and lives up to the AMG nameplate. Does it? Read on to find out.

2021 Mercedes S-Class Interior Fully Revealed In 80+ Photos

By: Adrian PadeanuMotor1

Forget about the five screens, the real magic is in the back.

Mercedes has previewed the new SClass interior a couple of times already, and yet we still don’t have the whole picture. That all changes today as we were able to find fully revealing images of the luxurious cabin prior to the official premiere set for September 2. While the three-pointed star has so far focused on the five-screen setup, intricate ambient lighting, and front airbags for rear passengers, the full interior was actually hiding in plain sight on the company’s media website.

The luxury cocoon is being featured here in Benz format as the Maybach version will have even greater legroom courtesy of a stretched wheelbase. Mercedes will step up its game yet again in the premium segment by offering heated cushions for the rear headrests as well as heating the area above the already heated armrests on the door cards. Speaking of newly added features the naked eye can’t see, Mercedes has added more acoustic foam than ever to keep the cabin nice and quiet.

BMW X6 M Competition vs. Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S: Asphalt Carvers

By Miguel Cortina – Words; William Walker – Photos – MotorTrend

BMW X6 M vs. Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 : Two Germans rivals go head to head.

We love driving fast. We like SUVs. When you merge those two together, you get fast and powerful SUVs. Sounds like fun, no?

BMW’s M division and Mercedes-AMG are both known for their performance coupes, but lately they’ve been crafting sporty SUVs with the aim of delivering the same go-fast experience you’d expect in one of their high-performance cars. Sure, SUVs are bigger, taller, and heavier, but when you add a powerful engine, retune the suspension, and add all-wheel drive, the result is a thrilling experience. The BMW X6 M Competition and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S are two gripping SUVs whose job is simple yet difficult to achieve: enchant the driver. The two automakers share the same objective, but each goes about the execution in its own way. Which one does it best?

2020 Mercedes-AMG S65 Review: A Fitting Goodbye

By Clint SimoneMotor1

The ultimate expression of an S-Class.

Let’s start by proclaiming what’s at the very top of mind: The 2020 Mercedes-AMG S65 Final Edition is the best Mercedes I’ve ever driven. Bold, I know, to declare a car that starts at over a quarter-million dollars to be “good,” and yet here I am putting my stellar reputation on the line.

There are endless reasons why the S65 Final Edition is such a treasure, but one stands above them all. Mercedes threw absolutely everything it has at this car. From the hand-built V12 engine to the custom leather upholstery, to the huge suite of tech and convenience features, the company employed its entire arsenal and the end result is a car that we’ll look back on and admire years down the line.

Cadillac CT4 vs. Mercedes-Benz A 220 Specs and Features Comparison

By – Frank Markus; MotorTrend

Which is the better entry-luxury sedan?

Everybody in the auto industry got sent home before Cadillac got its press-fleet allotment of base 2.0-liter CT4s and Mercedes-Benz populated its fleets with A 35 AMG sedans. As such, it’s not possible to pair those natural competitors with properly aligned powertrains (a front-drive $33,795 A 220 vs. a rear-drive $33,990 CT4, or a $45,945 A 35 4Matic vs. a $45,990 CT4-V AWD).

But with some creative squinting at the Monroney labels, we were able to fashion a comparison between a well-equipped CT4-V AWD ($52,010 as tested) and a loaded A 220 4Matic ($45,790). Stripping these vehicles down to their essences, which makes the better entry-luxury sedan? How do the Cadillac CT4 and Mercedes A 220 compare on size?

Mercedes-Benz S-Class: TopGear Review

Rivals are closer than ever, but the S-Class remains our favourite luxo-barge. For now

Without a doubt the benchmark big luxury saloon, the one Audi, BMW, Lexus, Cadillac and even Jaguar and Maserati must define themselves by and be measured against.

This car defines the sector and is the one all others must topple. The latest A8 and 7 Series are both much newer than the S and thus have some exceptionally clever tech on-board, but while both are excellent cars in their own right, neither is quite as special as the big Merc.

2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe: An Interior Befitting AMG?

By Alisa PriddleMotorTrend

When you aren’t getting your head pinned against the seat, check out the ambiance.

If you pay almost $100,000 for a 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe, you’ll undoubtedly have certain expectations. Many of them are related to power. After all, this Mercedes compact “coupe” has a handmade AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine. It leaps forward at the slightest touch of the pedal, unleashing 503 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, channeled through an AMG-tuned nine-speed automatic transmission.

Driving the AMG, your neck snaps back when you accelerate, whether you want it to or not. This is far more fun on an open stretch of road, but not so much in stop-and-go traffic, which is made worse by an abrupt stop-start system. With such a powerful engine, the whole car shudders when its eight cylinders fall silent.

So does the interior of this so-called coupe—even though it has four doors—live up to its performance? We spent a few days in a loaded-up $96,425 (base price is $85,095) GLC 63 S to find out.
