2022 Chevrolet Bolt – Pros and Cons
The Chevrolet Bolt compact electric hatchback impressed us so much when it first hit the market, we named it the 2017 MotorTrend Car of the Year. It was bold and fresh, ushering in a new era of fun electric cars that made sense as everyday drivers.
For the 2022 model year, Chevy gave the Bolt a needed update to compete with an exploding number of new EVs, hoping new clothes on the old emperor would be enough to win the title again.

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E
This is a Mustang like you’ve never seen before. Bucking the tradition of muscular two-doors, the all-new Ford Mustang Mach-E is a four-door electric crossover. But this isn’t meant to be the tree-hugger’s Mustang—the Mach-E emphasizes performance and technology.
Still, the Mach-E needs to achieve good electric driving range and provide an exciting way to live a fuel-free lifestyle. It’s a radical re-imagining of the classic Mustang, and a glimpse at Ford’s electric future. The Mach-E competes with other affordable electric SUVs including the Chevrolet Bolt EUV, Volkswagen ID4, and Tesla Model Y.

Our choice of vehicles for this SUV comparison test is bound to raise eyebrows. Shouldn’t we compare the new battery-powered 2021 Volkswagen ID4 with another electric car? That’s how our industry has been doing things, but the time is rapidly approaching when Jane and John Consumer will routinely consider electric as an alternative to internal combustion power. It’s time to start treating electric vehicles like mainstream cars, so let’s compare the ID4 with one of the best eco-friendly crossovers on the market, the 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid.

The ID4 is Volkswagen’s first crack at a battery-electric SUV. It’s reasonably spacious, comfortable, easy to live with, and packs a decent driving range, too. But some families need an SUV that can seat more than just five. Meet the ID6, the ID4’s bigger sibling.
VW recently revealed the ID6 for the Chinese market. Alas, the brand’s keeping mum on whether it’s going to sell the ID6 in the United States. Nevertheless, we think it makes a lot of sense for VW to bring the ID6 to our shores. For starters, Americans love SUVs. Plus, there’s the fact that VW wants to expand its market share in the U.S. In other words, the ID6 seems made for our market.

2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV First Look
By Alexander Stoklosa – MotorTrend
The Chevrolet Bolt EV, if you noticed it at all before, was a homely little electric hatchback. Neither here nor there, really—just a generically styled, Chevy-badged tall hatch. In other words, inoffensive automotive wallpaper. Looks were never the point because the Bolt delivered where it counts for EV customers: It was the first truly affordable “long-range” electric car, and it beat Tesla’s long-promised affordable Model 3 sedan to market. We named the impressive 238-mile Bolt EV our 2017 Car of the Year, and the game was supposed to be done changed by this pioneering Chevy.
