2022 Volkswagen ID4 EV Shows Off Its Simple, Tesla-Like Interior

By Kelly LinMotorTrend

A few months ago, we got a glimpse at the Volkswagen ID4 EV’s somewhat vanilla exterior. Well, it looks like the new electric car’s interior follows the same simple-is-better philosophy. In fact, we rather like the clean, uncluttered look, which reminds us of the Tesla Model 3’s pared-back cabin.

Like the most modern cars, the ID4 keeps the number of physical buttons at a minimum through a reliance on digital touchscreen displays. Both the instrument display—the ID4’s key difference from the Model 3 and Model Y, which lack a formal gauge cluster ahead of the driver—and the larger central touchscreen sit above the dashboard. The steering wheel, display housings, and control panels in the doors can be had in Piano Black or Electric White, depending on the buyer’s preference. Other noteworthy details? The brake pedal features a “pause” sign, and the accelerator features a “play” sign. Cheeky.

2022 Ford Maverick Pickup: Everything We Know

By: Jeff PerezMotor1

The Ford F-150 is the best-selling vehicle in America, with nearly 900,000 examples of the truck making their way to customer’s hands last year. The Ranger, meanwhile, managed nearly 90,000 units in 2019 (even though it isn’t the top seller in its class). That’s all to say: Ford knows how to sell trucks.

So to further cash in on pickup-crazed American buyers, the Blue Oval has another truck planned. Dubbed the Ford Maverick, the upcoming light pickup will be the smallest in the range – yes, even smaller than the Ranger – and could share its underpinnings with one of Ford’s unibody crossovers. We won’t have all the details on Ford’s light truck until it debuts, probably sometime next year, but here’s everything we know about it thus far.

2022 Nissan Ariya EV SUV First Look

By Aaron Gold – MotorTrend

The Nissan Ariya – This Murano-like electric SUV will take on the Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach E.

Nope, this isn’t a concept car—it’s the production version of the Nissan Ariya electric SUV shown at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show, and it’s coming to the U.S. and Canada in late 2021. With up to 300 miles of range, a flat-floor cabin, a hands-off driving mode, and a $40,000-ish price tag, the Ariya promises to be the electric crossover for those who don’t want to fade into the battery-powered background of lookalike Teslas.

2022 VW Golf GTI: New Hot Hatch is Coming! But There’s a Catch

By  ALVIN REYESAutomoblog

The 2022 VW Golf GTI is a spicier version of a standard Golf hatchback. You can think of it as the Si model to the Honda Civic and you won’t be too far off. In fact, both vehicles have similar characteristics: a more powerful engine, sporty suspension, front-wheel drive, and hatchback body style. Granted the Civic Si is a great driver’s car, but it doesn’t have the lineage of the iconic Golf GTI – at least not yet.

2022 Volkswagen Tiguan First Look: Look Who’s Getting Sleeker

By Frank MarkusMotorTrends

VW’s global bestseller is getting nips, tucks, and fresh technology.

You might not guess it to look around on American roadways, but the Volkswagen Tiguan was the brand’s global bestseller of 2019, with nearly a million units moved around the world. The U.S. snapped up 109,572 of them—an impressive 133 percent improvement over 2017. That was the year the current, stretched MQB variant launched in this country, and because its global short-wheelbase sibling launched in 2016, the refresh clock says the vehicle is due for a nip and tuck.

We’re told to expect new front-end styling that includes reshaped hood sheetmetal. Product marketing boss Dr. Hendrik Muth describes the new look as “a little bit less horizontal, very sporty, and a bit more masculine in its stance.” It will also feature 100 percent LED lighting—simple high-/low-beam LED headlights on base models and adaptive front lighting on top trims (alas, smart “matrix” lighting is not yet approved for the U.S. ). The rear is similarly updated, also with full LED lighting.
