2021 Land Rover Defender 90

By Angus MacKenzieMotorTrend

Less is more. Well, maybe. In the case of the 2021 Land Rover Defender 90, less is most definitely less—17.1 inches less, to be precise. Make no mistake, the short-wheelbase version of our 2021 SUV of the Year winner is still a good thing, offering, like its longer sibling, a truly unique combination of luxurious refinement on-road and Jeep-like capability off-road. But whether less of a good thing is actually … a good thing … depends on what you’re going to do with it.

2021 Honda Accord Hybrid First Test

By Zach GaleMotorTrend

More power doesn’t always translate to superior performance. Take the 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid for instance; does its class-leading power lead to a meaningful advantage in acceleration compared to the Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata hybrids? We track-tested the Honda to find out. And after our First Drive review, we also discovered two minor faults in what remains one of our favorite midsize family sedans.

If you’re on the fence between a 2020 and 2021 Accord Hybrid, we’d suggest picking the newer model—and this is coming from a particularly frugal-minded MotorTrend editor. It’s not because of newly available wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; it’s thanks to Honda’s adjustments to the way the car feels—and sounds—under acceleration.

2021 Audi S4 Pros and Cons Review

By Jonny LiebermanMotorTrend

All-new for the 2017 model year, the 2021 Audi A4 is a midcycle refresh of the sports sedan. But some refreshes are milder than others.

The sheet metal of the A4, and its S4 sibling, is ever so slightly tweaked. The infotainment and digital dash screens are new, too. Otherwise not much else changes. Engines and transmissions carry over. Why bother to include it in our 2021 Car of the Year competition? Well, the A4 has impressed us with its dynamics and chic, understated design inside and out. Besides, maybe Audi tuned a thousand little things that, when summed, wow us out of our socks.

2021 BMW 4 Series Pros and Cons Review

By Mark RechtinMotorTrend

There is a well-traveled rumor that the 2021 BMW 4 Series exterior design team has been reassigned to styling door handles and seat belt mountings for the rest of their careers.

OK, maybe that’s fake news. But it does prove that Germans have a sense of humor.

2021 Honda Accord Hybrid First Drive Review

By Miguel CortinaMotorTrend

We are big fans of more power and less gas. In theory, that’s what the 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid delivers—more horsepower and better fuel economy than the Accord sedan equipped with its non-hybrid entry-level turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. And when the only compromise between the two is an extra $1,600, the Accord Hybrid becomes a no-brainer, provided you can resist the 252-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter engine option.

2021 Genesis G80 Pros and Cons Review

By Zach GaleMotorTrend

We really wanted to love the 2021 Genesis G80, but the midsize luxury sedan segment requires a delicate touch the redesigned model just doesn’t deliver. Genesis has nailed certain aspects while leaving us cold in others.

The most basic compliment we can pay the G80 is thanking Genesis for continuing to offer a sedan in this price range. While Genesis was putting final touches on the 2021 G80, the Acura RLX, Lexus GS, and Lincoln Continental were discontinued, leaving the luxury sedan world three cars the poorer.

Fastest Pickup Trucks For 2020-2021

By Jeff PerezMotor1

These 16 powerful trucks have lots of pickup.

Here and now in 2020, there are a lot of ways to go fast. But absurd speed isn’t just for supercar and sports car owners anymore. Many companies now offer performance SUVs – the quickest of which we’ve on our fastest SUVs story – and a handful of those same brands even have performance pickup trucks, too.

You’re probably already familiar with fast factory trucks like the Ford Raptor and Ram TRX. But our definitive ranking of the fastest trucks available in 2020 and 2021 also includes aftermarket options from specialists like Hennessey and Shelby American, with some of those options offering hypercar-esque amounts of power. There’s even a thoroughly modern EV represented too.

So if you’re in the market for something with stupid straight-line speed, but all the same towing and hauling capabilities you expect from a truck, maybe one of these pickups is right for you.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Pros and Cons Review

By Miguel CortinaMotorTrend

The Chrysler Pacifica has been a longtime favorite of MotorTrend. Not only have we respected Fiat Chrysler (FCA) for engineering a decent-driving minivan, but we also love the way the Pacifica treats the family going along for the ride. In fact, two years ago we crowned it America’s best family car after beating vehicles in several segments during our March Mayhem contest.

2021 MotorTrend SUV of the Year: Contenders and Finalists

By MotorTrend

As automakers walk away from sedans as family transportation, it seems ever more categories and niches are being created for the now-omnipresent SUV. Across these multiple sizes, shapes, and price points, we tested the latest models at the 2021 MotorTrend SUV of the Year competition—thoroughly evaluating nearly 30 vehicles in all, with the group ranging from a rugged trail climber and a mall-crawling soft-roader to the fastest zero-to-Montessori ride in the carpool lane.

2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge EV First Drive Review: Pure Electric P8wer

By Angus MacKenzieMotorTrend

Quick quiz: How many 400-plus-hp production cars has Volvo built? The 402-hp 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric P8 is one of the most significant cars the Swedish brand has launched, right up there with the P144 Amazon, the 760, and the S80. But that significance derives not from being one of the most powerful Volvos ever produced (along with the Polestar-tweaked XC90 T8 PHEV), but rather what produces that power. The XC40 Recharge Pure Electric P8 is Volvo’s first electric car.
