Best Full-Size Sedans to Buy in 2020

By Michael Floyd – MotorTrend

There used to be a time when the full-size sedan was a must-have for any automaker and a common sight on American roads. But thanks to the rise of the SUV, with extra cargo space and higher ride heights, big four-door sedans fell out of favor with families, and the segment has been shrinking rapidly since.

That said, there are still a few top full-size sedans left on the market at the affordable end of the price spectrum. (The cars covered here don’t include big-buck luxury models like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.) They all have big trunks, plenty of room in the cabin for five, and ample power. They’re not going to blow you away with their handling prowess, but that’s not the mission of the best big sedans.

The full-size sedan has always been geared toward getting family, friends, and business associates from point A to B in comfort and style.

2021 Toyota Camry First Look: Evolving the Formula

By Nick YekikianMotorTrend

The Toyota Camry family sedan benefits from a mild facelift for the 2021 model year.

The current-generation Camry has been with us for three years, meaning it’s more than halfway into its life cycle. That said, it’s aging rather gracefully. The Camry is one of the best-selling sedans on sale right now, and Toyota wants to keep the ball rolling as it moves into 2021. In order to keep the perennial mid-size sedan fresh, Toyota has made a number of meaningful changes to the Camry for 2021.

Outside, a number of small updates to the Camry’s front fascia better separate LE and XLE models from sportier-looking SE and XSE trims. The L trim is dead, meaning the LE is now the least expensive Camry you can buy. It celebrates this feat with a new set of 17-inch wheels. Likewise, the XLE gets a new 18-inch wheel design. Both trims add a more defined chin to the bottom of the front bumper. Meanwhile, SE and XSE models get small adjustments to the front bumper and feature a new honeycomb grill design.

Best Sedans to Buy in 2020

By Alexander Stoklosa – MotorTrend

Traditional four-door sedans aren’t dead yet. Despite sales encroachment from ever-more-popular trucks and SUVs, sedans remain big sellers and typically drive better than any similarly sized crossover or SUV while delivering much better efficiency.

At the affordable end of the market, subcompact and compact sedans such as the Kia Rio, Hyundai Accent, Honda Civic, and Mazda 3 represent popular and more affordable family-car alternatives to SUVs (not to mention large cars!).

Move up in size and price, and passenger cars such as the Tesla Model 3 EV, Audi A6, and Audi A8 deliver cachet and performance to match their roomier interiors and trunks. There’s a four-door for every buyer, and we’ve reviewed them all, so read on for MotorTrend‘s picks for the best sedans to buy in 2020.

10 Comfortable Luxury Sedans Under $10,000

By: Chris BruceMotor1

There are luxurious four-doors like the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class for this price.

This is an era where the top luxury vehicles are often SUVs and crossovers. Whether it’s a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Bentley Bentayga, or even somewhat lower-priced models like the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, riding in style increasingly means opting for a utility vehicle. However, there’s still old-school cool about arriving at an event in a high-class sedan. You get a taste of being in the Rat Pack and rolling up to Ceasar’s Palace in a big Cadillac.

You don’t need to be car poor to experience the comfort and features of owning a luxury sedan, though. Even for $10,000, you can buy a high-class four-door that makes your friends think you spent twice as much or more. We have put together a list of 10 picks that offer this opulence without breaking the bank.

What Are the Safest Sedans for 2020?

By Alisa PriddleMotorTrend

Sedan sales keep giving way to more popular SUVs, but the former is still very much alive. For many, their first car is still a sedan. And enthusiasts still prefer the low seating position and driving dynamics of a car. Regardless of where sedan customers are coming from, a good set of safety scores can mean the difference between serious consideration and moving on to another car. So if you’re curious which are the safest sedans for 2020, you’ve come to the right place.

Simple physics suggests a larger, higher-riding SUV wins in a collision against a sedan, but today’s cars have the latest in safety technology to keep young drivers and families alike safe. We look at some of the safest sedans on the market today, based on their crash rating scores from the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration (NHTSA), the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and the safety systems offered on these models. The least expensive models are featured first.

2020 Audi S4 First Test: Does it Improve the Sport Sedan Breed?

By Nick Yekikian, Jade NelsonMotorTrend

Most of the time we get into our cars out of necessity. There’s always a destination—an appointment to keep or a shift to start. More often than not, that’s the reason I get behind the wheel, too. But occasionally I get the chance to hit the road with absolutely nowhere to go. That was exactly the case when I picked up a Daytona Gray Pearl 2020 Audi S4 from the MotorTrend office a few weeks ago.

Keys in hand, it was time to get acquainted with my new partner. Virtual cockpit? Check. Audi‘s MMI? Check. Rotary controller? Ah, that’s right, it’s gone. The infotainment setup in the S4 is now touchscreen only, and a wallet-sized bin has replaced the control knob that used to do all the work.

2021 Audi A3 Sedan First Look: More Aggressive, More Techy

By Scott Evans – MotorTrend

Sedans are sailing in serious headwinds these days, but Audi isn’t ready to give up. The second-generation 2021 Audi A3 is here with a more aggressive look and a load of tech designed to draw your eye away from all the SUVs in the room.

You’ll immediately recognize Audi’s smallest, least-expensive sedan; its look is more evolutionary than revolutionary, but it’s undeniably more assertive with far more lines than curves in its sheetmetal. They’re most obvious up front, but don’t miss the deeply sculpted sides and the Radwood-worthy Audi logo on the rear doors, an ’80s brand throwback. Audi designers also looked to draw out the roofline slightly and tighten up the rear end to give the A3 sedan a little more of that four-door coupe look that’s in vogue.

Fuel economy is something we all think about before making a new-car purchase. And having a hybrid powertrain doesn’t necessarily mean you’re driving something boring. These days, electrified sedans often have more power and usually more torque than their internal combustion counterparts, despite their using less fuel. These 12 hybrid sedans with the best mpg could be a good fit for you if you’re thinking about going green.

2021 Hyundai Elantra: When a Compact Sedan Grows Up

By Alvin ReyesAutomoblog.net

Just when we thought conventional four-door sedans were afterthoughts, along comes the 2021 Hyundai Elantra. From the onset, the Elantra is a bigger, sleeker, and wider car, which is great if you want to lead the supersized compact segment dominated by the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. I have an inkling for Elantras in general. I’ve driven lots of Elantras over the years, although I never had the chance of owning one.

And the introduction of the 2021 Hyundai Elantra makes me think I was missing out.

2021 Hyundai Elantra Sedan First Look: The Compact Goes WAY Upscale

By Kelly LinMotor Trend

There is a lot to like about the current Hyundai Elantra sedan, including its lively steering and abundant safety features. But it is a middling competitor in the compact sedan space, hampered by its unrefined powertrains and a so-so interior compared to the segment-leading Honda Civic sedan, to say nothing of the luxurious Mazda 3.

It’s too soon to tell whether the all-new 2021 Hyundai Elantra will move the needle overall, but just looking at it, the four-door appears to have taken several huge steps forward in terms of refinement, looks, and aspiration.
